Selank for ADHD: What Does the Research Suggest?
Selank has garnered interest among researchers and the nootropics community due to its reported effects on anxiety regulation, cognitive function, and neurochemical balance. Although Selank is not approved as a treatment for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), several experimental and clinical studies suggest that it may interact with biological pathways related to attention, executive functions, working memory, and cognitive performance [1–4].
ADHD is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder characterised by alterations in attention control, executive functions, emotional regulation, and neurotransmitter signalling. Current therapies primarily focus on dopaminergic and noradrenergic pathways. In contrast, Selank appears to act as a regulatory neuropeptide, simultaneously impacting multiple systems, including GABAergic signalling, endogenous opioid pathways, neuroplasticity-related mechanisms, and gene expression networks [1].
Increasingly the phrase „Selank for ADHD” appears in the context of research into neuropeptides that can support concentration, emotional regulation, and cognitive performance.
Can Selank Improve Concentration?
Many people interested in Selank wonder if it can support concentration and focus. While there are currently no direct studies conducted on individuals with ADHD, existing data points to several mechanisms that could theoretically contribute to improved attentional functions.
Research suggests that Selank exhibits nootropic properties and may support cognitive function without causing significant sedation or memory impairment [1]. Experimental studies have indicated that Selank acts as a positive allosteric modulator of GABA receptors, which may help to limit excessive stress responses and reduce anxiety-related cognitive impairment [1].
As anxiety and cognitive overload can exacerbate concentration difficulties, reducing stress-related signalling may indirectly improve focus and clarity of thought. Can Selank help with depression?
Research on Selank and Depression
Depression is a multifactorial disorder involving complex interactions between neurotransmitters, neuroplasticity, stress regulation, inflammation, and brain network function. As Selank affects several of these systems, researchers have been investigating whether the peptide may exhibit mood-supportive properties.
Current evidence indicates that Selank exhibits anxiolytic, neuroprotective and cognitive function-regulating effects, however, direct evidence confirming its use as an antidepressant remains limited [1–4].
Does Selank Help with Depression?
Several research findings suggest that Selank may affect biological pathways often disrupted in depression.

No large randomised clinical trials have evaluated Selank in the treatment of major depression, dysthymia or treatment-resistant depression.
